Serving the community is more than showing up; it is serving with excellence. - dedicated to a higher standard and a strong work ethic. As the former Chief State Court Judge, Clarence Cuthpert, Jr. is an involved and intentional servant. He prides himself in the standards of integrity, equality, and accessibility. He values the rights set forth by our laws for ALL people in ALL groups.
Keeping our communities safe is, of course, working to protect the innocent. However, that is not enough. Treatment under the law should remain fair and balanced; an effective jurist must not only hold those who commit crimes accountable but also seek sustainable venues for rehabilitation.
In our country, each citizen is afforded certain legal rights. The US Constitution recognizes and accepts these rights. It establishes the foundation for the protection of these rights. Furthermore, our Constitution provides that every person accused of wrongdoing has the right to a fair trial before a competent judge and a jury of one's peers. The competence of the judge is essential to protecting the public and cannot be overlooked when exercising our right to vote.
A judge does not sit on one side of the courtroom or another. He is seated behind the bench, presiding over the entire courtroom and its proceedings. Each issue is carefully considered based on both the rule of law and the best interest of all parties. Without question, an effective judge is firm in upholding the law but also compassionate as the disputes before him are unraveled. Aware of the profound effect each matter will have on the lives of all parties, he diligently seeks resolution while maintaining a commitment to fair and just decision-making. It's not about taking sides; it is about finding common ground within the confines of and protections afforded by the laws of our state.
